Welcome to Avant Transport Systems

Transport is a part of virtually every enterprise, in that the source of a product or service, is nearly always remote from its point of consumption. Without effective transport, society simply doesn't work, so it is and always will be, an essential industry.

Various qualifications are available at Universities and other Institutes, some of which we list here, but an exposure to various arms of industry is what we have in addition, and here we draw on experiences to help find the solutions to daily business problems that may be encoountered.

Avant Internet Services Ltd

Our now redundant entity (Avant Internet Services Ltd) was closed after operating from 1998-2018. Over the years we had around a dozen clients, ranging from the very small to the very large, although usually at this end we were subcontracting to larger consultancies domiciled in Wellington. The work we did involved building Websites and Intranets, Operational Support roles, Business Intelligence (BI) Reporting, Content Editing, and Business Process Documentation.
The Dual ICL 3980 mainframes used by NZ Customs for the processing of International Passenger Processing, and for the Freight import/export systems, for sea and air up until 1999. The replacement system was a Unix Server system, that could be fitted on top of an average dining room table, but with multiple intelligent nodes out on the Windows N/T network, instead of dumb (centrally driven) terminals.

Part of the enormous Dual ICL 2980 system, at Trentham Computer Centre, used for Customs & Department of Statistics earlier freight/tariff system. It was also shared by eight other Government Departments, and was New Zealand's most powerfull computer when it was installed.
